D&C 38

 As the Lord was explaining the purpose for going to the Ohio, He said - 

"...for this cause I gave unto you the commandment that ye should go to the Ohio; and there I will give unto you my law; and there you shall be endowed with power from on high;

33 And from thence, whosoever I will shall go forth among all nations, and it shall be told them what they shall do; for I have a great work laid up in store, for Israel shall be saved, and I will lead them whithersoever I will, and no power shall stay my hand."  (Doctrine and Covenants 38:32–33)

It's all about saving Israel.

D&C 37

 The Lord instructed the Prophet Joseph Smith in December, 1830 - 

"Behold, I say unto you that it is not expedient in me that ye should translate any more until ye shall go to the Ohio, and this because of the enemy and for your sakes."  (Doctrine and Covenants 37:1)

Sometimes, the will of the Lord may not make sense, but obedience is the matters.  We see that with the closing of temples in our day.

D&C 36

 As the Lord speaks to Edward Partridge, He declares a great truth - 

"Thus saith the Lord God, the Mighty One of Israel..."  (Doctrine and Covenants 36:1)

We have been instructed to study the doctrine of "Israel".  This is one of therm

D&C 35

 Sidney Rigdon is counseled by the Savior to -

"Keep all the commandments and covenants by which ye are bound; and I will cause the heavens to shake for your good, and Satan shall tremble and Zion shall rejoice upon the hills and flourish..."  (Doctrine and Covenants 35:24)

And then the Lord adds - 

"And Israel shall be saved in mine own due time; and by the keys which I have given shall they be led, and no more be confounded at all."  (Doctrine and Covenants 35:25)

Israel shall be led by priesthood keys!

D&C 34

The Savior addressed Orson Pratt with -

"My son Orson..."  (Doctrine and Covenants 34:1)

...declaring

"...hearken and hear and behold what I, the Lord God, shall say unto you, even Jesus Christ your Redeemer;

2 The light and the life of the world, a light which shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehendeth it not..."  (Doctrine and Covenants 34:1–2)

And then explaining His reference to "my son" - 

"Who so loved the world that he gave his own life, that as many as would believe might become the sons of God. Wherefore you are my son;

4 And blessed are you because you have believed..."  (Doctrine and Covenants 34:3–4)

Obviously, if we truly believe (obedience) then we become His son or daughter.

D&C 33

 Leading to His second coming, the Savior counseled - 

"...the Book of Mormon and the holy scriptures are given of me for your instruction; and the power of my Spirit quickeneth all things.

17 Wherefore, be faithful, praying always, having your lamps trimmed and burning, and oil with you, that you may be ready at the coming of the Bridegroom—

18 For behold, verily, verily, I say unto you, that I come quickly."  (Doctrine and Covenants 33:16–18)

I note that the Savior did not say, "I come soon", but "quickly" which suggests to me it happens suddenly and you better be ready.

D&C 32

 The Lord counseled His early missionaries - 

"...they shall give heed to that which is written, and pretend to no other revelation; and they shall pray always that I may unfold the same to their understanding."   (Doctrine and Covenants 32:4)

As our prophet has counseled us to "hear Him", I feel that it is that we study the scriptures and pray for understanding.

D&C 31

 Thomas Marsh was counseled by the Lord to - 

"Pray always, lest you enter into temptation and lose your reward."  (Doctrine and Covenants 31:12)

Obviously praying always is a essential in pursuit of exaltation.

D&C 30

It appears the Lord chastises David Whitmer saying - 

"...you have feared man and have not relied on me for strength as you ought.

2 But your mind has been on the things of the earth more than on the things of me, your Maker, and the ministry whereunto you have been called; and you have not given heed unto my Spirit, and to those who were set over you..."  (Doctrine and Covenants 30:1–2)

I think this could apply to all men, especially to me.

D&C 29

 We learn that  little children - 

"...cannot sin, for power is not given unto Satan to tempt little children, until they begin to become accountable before me..."  (Doctrine and Covenants 29:47) 

Also - 

"...he that hath no understanding, it remaineth in me to do according as it is written."  (Doctrine and Covenants 29:50)

Having a handicap daughter, this brings me great comfort.

D&C 29

 I find it refreshing as well as sobering as the Lord spoke to the leader of the Church - 

"Behold, verily, verily, I say unto you, that at this time your sins are forgiven you, therefore ye receive these things; but remember to sin no more, lest perils shall come upon you."  (Doctrine and Covenants 29:3)

I becomes clear to me that we can know of forgiveness during our lives.

D&C 29

 Following the counsel of President Nelson concerning promises made to Israel, I noted this morning -

"And again, verily, verily, I say unto you, and it hath gone forth in a firm decree, by the will of the Father, that mine apostles, the Twelve which were with me in my ministry at Jerusalem, shall stand at my right hand at the day of my coming in a pillar of fire, being clothed with robes of righteousness, with crowns upon their heads, in glory even as I am, to judge the whole house of Israel, even as many as have loved me and kept my commandments, and none else."  (Doctrine and Covenants 29:12)

This is those who will be Israel in eternity.

D&C 28

Contrary to that which is done differentlt among other faiths, the Lord made it clear in His Church - 

"...no one shall be appointed to receive commandments and revelations in this church excepting my servant Joseph Smith, Jun., for he receiveth them even as Moses.

3 And thou shalt be obedient unto the things which I shall give unto him, even as Aaron, to declare faithfully the commandments and the revelations, with power and authority unto the church.

4 And if thou art led at any time by the Comforter to speak or teach, or at all times by the way of commandment unto the church, thou mayest do it.

5 But thou shalt not write by way of commandment, but by wisdom;

6 And thou shalt not command him who is at thy head, and at the head of the church;

7 For I have given him the keys of the mysteries, and the revelations which are sealed, until I shall appoint unto them another in his stead."  (Doctrine and Covenants 28:2–7)

In other words, as sung by Primary children...follow the prophet.

D&C 27

 As the Lord speaks of the great, so called, sacrament meeting at Adam-ondi-ahman and who will attend, He adds - 

"...also with all those whom my Father hath given me out of the world."  (Doctrine and Covenants 27:14)

Thus He pleads for the saints to put on the whole armor of God so that we shall - 

"...be faithful until I come, and ye shall be caught up, that where I am ye shall be also..."  (Doctrine and Covenants 27:18)

D&C 26

I believe this is one of the instruction the Lord provides to all men - 

"Behold, I say unto you that you shall let your time be devoted to the studying of the scriptures, and to preaching, and to confirming the church..., and to performing your labors on the land, such as is required..."  (Doctrine and Covenants 26:1)

D&C 25

 I find it interesting that the Lord said to Emma Smith - 

"Murmur not because of the things which thou hast not seen, for they are withheld from thee and from the world, which is wisdom in me in a time to come."  (Doctrine and Covenants 25:4)

This may have been for her personal protection.

D&C 24

 The Lord counseled Oliver Cowdery - 

"In me he shall have glory, and not of himself, whether in weakness or in strength, whether in bonds or free..."  (Doctrine and Covenants 24:11)

"Not of himself" would suggest that we have to be careful of pride.

D&C 23

It seems Joseph Knight must have been some what hesitant and reserved as the Lord said to him - 

"...you must take up your cross, in the which you must pray vocally before the world as well as in secret, and in your family, and among your friends, and in all places.

7 And, behold, it is your duty to unite with the true church, and give your language to exhortation continually, that you may receive the reward of the laborer..."  (Doctrine and Covenants 23:6–7)

I can somewhat relate as I was called to the high council.  I was petrified to have to speak in Church regularly. 

D&C 22

 The Lord reasoned with those that thought their previous baptisms were still in affect - 

"Behold, I say unto you that all old covenants have I caused to be done away in this thing; and this is a new and an everlasting covenant, even that which was from the beginning."  (Doctrine and Covenants 22:1)

All covenants, including the law of Moses, availeth nothing in the eternal scheme of things except unless they are made according to the authority and doctrine of the new and everlasting covenant.
