D&C 99

As John Murdock was called on a mission, the Lord tells him -

"...who receiveth you receiveth me..."  (Doctrine and Covenants 99:2)

adding -

"...you shall have power to declare my word in the demonstration of my Holy Spirit."  (Doctrine and Covenants 99:2)

When we preach by the power of the Holy Ghost, the Holy Ghost carries it to the heart of men.

D&C 98

To the saints in Missouri, the Lord teaches the doctrine -

"...I have decreed in my heart, saith the Lord, that I will prove you in all things, whether you will abide in my covenant, even unto death, that you may be found worthy.
15 For if ye will not abide in my covenant ye are not worthy of me."  (Doctrine and Covenants 98:14–15)

It becomes that simple, will we keep our covenants unto deaths?  If we do, we are chosen and worthy for eternal life.

D&C 97

The Lord promises those that live in Zion -

"...Zion shall escape if she observe to do all things whatsoever I have commanded her."  (Doctrine and Covenants 97:25)

If not -

"...I will visit her according to all her works, with sore affliction, with pestilence, with plague, with sword, with vengeance, with devouring fire."  (Doctrine and Covenants 97:26)

There are conditions to every blessing.

D&C 96

As the Lord instructed the brethren where the temple and other buildings were to be built, He said -

"...let it be divided into lots, according to wisdom, for the benefit of those who seek inheritances, as it shall be determined in council among you."  (Doctrine and Covenants 96:3)

I find it interesting that the Lord does not make all decisions for us but allows us to sit in council in doing he work of the Lord.

D&C 95

To the saints in Kirtland that had not began the construction of the temple, the Lord said -

"...verily I say unto you, that there are many who have been ordained among you, whom I have called but few of them are chosen."  (Doctrine and Covenants 95:5)

In my mind, "chosen" would suggest those that will receive the Lord's promised blessing whatever it may be.

D&C 93

As Sidney Rigdon is again called to journey to preach the gospel, the teaches the brethren -

"...by your prayer of faith with one consent I will uphold him."  (Doctrine and Covenants 93:51)

It is important to understand that the prayers of others can sustain, uphold, and bless others.

D&C 93

We learn the Lord's definition of intelligence with -

 The glory of God is intelligence, or, in other words, light and truth.
(Doctrine and Covenants 93:36)

And -

 "Light and truth forsake that evil one."  (Doctrine and Covenants 93:37)

Thus intelligence, in my mind, is basically following Christ and keeping His commandments or in other words, eternal truths.  Not doing so is basically not being intelligent.

D&C 93

The Lord does not necessarily say when but that -

"...It shall come to pass that every soul who forsaketh his sins and cometh unto me, and calleth on my name, and obeyeth my voice, and keepeth my commandments, shall see my face and know that I am..."  (Doctrine and Covenants 93:1)

"...for he will unveil his face unto you, and it shall be in his own time, and in his own way, and according to his own will."  (Doctrine and Covenants 88:68)

D&C 90

To establish Zion, the Lord explains -

"...verily I say unto you, that I, the Lord, will contend with Zion, and plead with her strong ones, and chasten her until she overcomes and is clean before me."  (Doctrine and Covenants 90:36)

Obviously, the Lord will continue to work with us to help us live according to the law of the Celestial kingdom or in other words, Zion.

D&C 89

As the Lord introduced the "Word of Wisdom", He said -

"...showing forth the order and will of God in the temporal salvation of all saints in the last days—"  (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 89:2)

Though we know that all things are spiritual, the Lord specifically states that this "Word" was His will concerning our temporal matters.  It continues to provide more reasons, but it struck me this morning that it would effect families temporally.  Recently, another state in the Union legalized marijuana.  I can't help but think what impact this so called liberty will have temporally on families in that state.  We will have to wait to see the impact but in my mind, obviously contrary to the will of God.

D&C 88

So that we individually may receive instruction from the Lord, He instructs -

"See that ye love one another; cease to be covetous; learn to impart one to another as the gospel requires.
124 Cease to be idle; cease to be unclean; cease to find fault one with another; cease to sleep longer than is needful; retire to thy bed early, that ye may not be weary; arise early, that your bodies and your minds may be invigorated.
125 And above all things, clothe yourselves with the bond of charity, as with a mantle, which is the bond of perfectness and peace."  (Doctrine and Covenants 88:123–125)

...which in my mind is needful in order to learn the mysteries of godliness.

D&C 88

The Lord prophesied that the day would come when -

"...all things shall be in commotion; and surely, men’s hearts shall fail them; for fear shall come upon all people."  (Doctrine and Covenants 88:91)

Recently, several states have legalized the use of recreational marijuana.  As I read that this morning I couldn't help but think of those that choose to turn to substance abuse for stimulant as their hearts fail them.

D&C 88

The Lord instructs the early elders of the Church -

"...I give unto you, who are the first laborers in this last kingdom, a commandment that you assemble yourselves together, and organize yourselves, and prepare yourselves, and sanctify yourselves; yea, purify your hearts, and cleanse your hands and your feet before me, that I may make you clean..."  (Doctrine and Covenants 88:74)

I don't believe that there brethren could actually sanctify themselves, but I believe that the Lord is suggesting that they could strive to purify their hearts and works, and the Lord would sanctify them or make them clean.

D&C 88

The Lord revealed the purpose of the Holy Ghost saying that -

"This Comforter is the promise which I give unto you of eternal life, even the glory of the celestial kingdom..."  (Doctrine and Covenants 88:4)

It is the Holy Ghost that ministers justification and sanctification for -

"...verily I say unto you, that which is governed by law is also preserved by law and perfected and sanctified by the same.
35 That which breaketh a law, and abideth not by law, but seeketh to become a law unto itself, and willeth to abide in sin, and altogether abideth in sin, cannot be sanctified by law, neither by mercy, justice, nor judgment. Therefore, they must remain filthy still."  (Doctrine and Covenants 88:34–35)

For -

"All beings who abide not in those conditions are not justified."  (Doctrine and Covenants 88:39)
