John 14
In His final evening before His death the Savior taught His apostles -
"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." (New Testament | John 14:2)
It is my understanding that the Prophet Joseph Smith taught that "mansions" should be written "kingdoms". In that we are taught that our spouse and ourselves, if we live righteously, and keep our covenants, that the day will come that we will become kings and queens. Obviously, to be a king and queen would suggest that we must have a kingdom. Thus there will be many kingdoms. It would seem to me that these kingdoms would be families or offspring.
Upon which, Thomas asked the Savior -
"...how can we know the way?" (New Testament | John 14:5)
It is quite simple. The Savior answered -
"...I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (New Testament | John 14:6)
Adding -
"If ye love me, keep my commandments." (New Testament | John 14:15)
I don't believe it could be anymore clear.
One of those being -
"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." (New Testament | John 13:34)
It becomes very clear how we are to love one another..."as I have loved you".
