Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

Luke 1

Luke records that -

"...Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;
40 And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.
41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb..."  (New Testament | Luke 1:39 - 41)

Previously, the angel, Gabriel had told Mary -

"...behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her..."  (New Testament | Luke 1:36)

One would have to assume that John the Baptist then was just over 6 months ahead of the Savior.  But what struck my thoughts this morning was that it was very apparent that the spirit of John had already entered into the unborn John in the womb.  This would suggest to me that John at 6 months was a living being.

Just a thought when society claims life begins at birth in a effor to justify abortions.

Looking on my blog last Friday, I find it interesting that Luke was able to record the prophecies of Mary as she speaks -

"...My soul doth magnify the Lord,
47 Add my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.
50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
51 He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.
53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.
54 He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;
55 As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.  (New Testament | Luke 1:46 - 55)

I think it is interesting that Mary recognized that her son would be here savior.
