Isaiah 31
Nephi commented being familiar with the words of Isaiah -
"O Lord, I have trusted in thee, and I will trust in thee forever. I will not put my trust in the arm of flesh; for I know that cursed is he that putteth his trust in the arm of flesh. Yea, cursed is he that putteth his trust in man or maketh flesh his arm." Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 4:34)
Isaiah warned Judah -
"WOE to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!" (Old Testament | Isaiah 31:1)
And then adds -
"Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together." (Old Testament | Isaiah 31:3)
I think it is always interesting when people choose to rely upon alliance and the arm of flesh instead of upon the Lord that has all power.
