D&C 105

Having defined Zion as -

"...for this is Zion—THE PURE IN HEART"  (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 97:21)

And -

"...the Lord called his people ZION, because they were of one heart and one mind, and dwelt in righteousness; and there was no poor among them."  (Pearl of Great Price | Moses 7:18)

Where Zion, as previously blogged, is living according to the law of the celestial, we learn, as Zions Camp was being disbanded that -

"There has been a day of calling, but the time has come for a day of choosing; and let those be chosen that are worthy.
36 And it shall be manifest unto my servant, by the voice of the Spirit, those that are chosen; and they shall be sanctified..."  (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 105:35 - 36)

Herein we learn that to be "chosen" is to be sanctified or become clean and pure.  Which also suggests that in being chosen and sanctified. in that -

"...inasmuch as they follow the counsel which they receive, they shall have power after many days to accomplish all things pertaining to Zion."  (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 105:37)

It becomes apparent that that the establishment of Zion would not happen over night, but according to the timing and will of the Lord, as obedience is performed, hearts are changed and made pure, as the saints are chosen and become holy, as the grace of the atonement is manifest, as the endowments and covenants are entered into, then, and only then will Zion or celestial life on earth as defined previously be established for -

"...let those commandments which I have given concerning Zion and her law be executed and fulfilled, after her redemption. (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 105:34)
