Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

D&C 101

As the Lord taught the conditions of life during the millenium, I was touched with the prophecy -

"...in that day when the Lord shall come, he shall reveal all things—
33 Things which have passed, and hidden things which no man knew, things of the earth, by which it was made, and the purpose and the end thereof—
34 Things most precious, things that are above, and things that are beneath, things that are in the earth, and upon the earth, and in heaven."  (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 101:32 - 34)

For me personally, to have all questions answered and all these truths revealed would be so enlightening, thrilling and  satisfying.  As I have read the scriptures, we have read of many great prophets, having so called "high mountain" experiences, where many of these things were revealed.  In a way, I have longed for the same.  Wouldn't it be wonderful to live during this period.  Speaking of "high mountain" experiences which would mean to me to step back and take an eternal perspective to all things, the Lord taught -

"...all they who suffer persecution for my name, and endure in faith, though they are called to lay down their lives for my sake yet shall they partake of all this glory.
36 Wherefore, fear not even unto death; for in this world your joy is not full, but in me your joy is full.
37 Therefore, care not for the body, neither the life of the body; but care for the soul, and for the life of the soul.
38 And seek the face of the Lord always, that in patience ye may possess your souls, and ye shall have eternal life."  (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 101:35 - 38)

The Lord said to the Prophet Joseph Smith -

"My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment..."  (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 121:7)

From an eternal perspective or stepping back with a "high mountain" observation, this life is just a moment.  That is why we should not care for body or life, but bear in patience our temporal body and experience.  In an eternal sense, it is just for a moment compared to "eternal life".
