Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

D&C 73 - 75

It seems the elders of the Church are always approaching the Prophet requesting guidance in what the Lord would have them do. Time and time again the instruction is very much the same -

"...I say unto you that it is my will that you should go forth and not tarry, neither be idle but labor with your might—
4 Lifting up your voices ..., proclaiming the truth according to the revelations and commandments which I have given you." (Doctrine and Covenants Section 75:3 - 4)

10 Calling on the name of the Lord for the Comforter, which shall teach them all things that are expedient for them—...Praying always that they faint not;
(Doctrine and Covenants Section 75:10 - 11)

For those who liken the scriptures unto themselves, he says -

...this is the will of the Lord your God concerning you...(Doctrine and Covenants Section 75:12)

But he also admonishes that in so doing -

"...that every man who is obliged to provide for his own family, let him provide" as well as "...and let him labor in the church.
29 Let every man be diligent in all things. And the idler shall not have place in the church, except he repent and mend his ways." (Doctrine and Covenants Section 75:28 - 29)
