Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

Matthew 28

From the days of Cain and Able, as we see Satan and Cain plotting secret combinations for gain, we see this great wickedness amongst the scribes and priests of Jesus's day. It was all about power and secret works. Even though these men requested on more than one occasion a sign or in other words, did seek after signs, when the greatest of all signs were given, in blindness they plotted against it. Jesus testified more than once that He would rise on the third day. Even to make sure they would maintain their wicked power -

"...the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
63 Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.
64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
65 Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can." (New Testament | Matthew 27:62 - 65)

So they did. And even then when -

"...some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done." (New Testament | Matthew 28:11)

The wickedly -

"...assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,
13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.
14 And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.
15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day." (New Testament | Matthew 28:12 - 15)

It is clear that they are no less wicked than Cain as he declared -

"...Truly I am Mahan, the master of this great secret, that I may murder and get gain. Wherefore Cain was called Master Mahan, and he gloried in his wickedness." (Pearl of Great Price | Moses 5:31)
