Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

Matthew 21

As the Savior entered Jerusalem riding upon, as prophesied, as ass, Matthew records -

"..the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest." (New Testament | Matthew 21:9)

It was the word "Hosanna" being said to the Savior caught me attention this morning. According to Daniel H. Ludlow -

"Hosanna" is a transliteration of a Hebrew word with the essential meaning of "grant us salvation." Other possible meanings are "save now," "save, we pray," and "save, we beseech thee."

As we dedicate modern temples, the very meaning, as we shout "Hosanna", is a plea to "save, we beseech thee".
