D&C 129
In is in this revelation that we learn a physical property characteristic between a spirit and one with a physical body -
"If he be the spirit of a just man made perfect he will come in his glory; for that is the only way he can appear—" (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 129:6)
I sense from these words that the glorious nature of a spirit cannot be clothed. It seems that a spirit with a body of flesh and bones can control the glory emmitted. This may explain why the Father and the Son appeared unto the Prophet Joseph and he was able to bear their presence.
