Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

Luke 4

As Jesus was set upon the pinnacle of the temples, came Satan tempting -

"....If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:
10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone."  (Luke 4:9–11)

...to which the Savior answered -

"...Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God."  (Luke 4:12)

It is the "if" question that touched my mind this morning.  We as Melchizedek priesthood holders or those with significant callings may at times be tempted with an "if" question when asked to perform our duties.  We may try to justify results but a simple that we do not tempt the Lord in our desires is sufficient.
