Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

Moses 6

As Moses refers to the posterity of Adam that were children of God, or those that chose righteousness -

"...the Lord blessed them;
5 And a book of remembrance was kept, in the which was recorded, in the language of Adam, for it was given unto as many as called upon God to write by the spirit of inspiration..."  (Pearl of Great Price | Moses 6:4 - 5)

By definition that a book was written by the spirit of inspiration, this book of remembrance obviously is the beginning of the scriptures for Peter taught  -

"Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
2 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."  (New Testament | 2 Peter 1:20 - 21)

And thus with this scripture or book of remembrance -

"...their children were taught to read and write, having a language which was pure and undefiled."  (Pearl of Great Price | Moses 6:6)

Obviously then, Adam and Eve were educated and intelligent.  We see this same pattern amongst the Nephites with the need for the "book of remembrance" or plates of Laban as king Benjamin taught his people -

"For it were not possible that our father, Lehi, could have remembered all these things, to have taught them to his children, except it were for the help of these plates; for he having been taught in the language of the Egyptians therefore he could read these engravings, and teach them to his children, that thereby they could teach them to their children, and so fulfilling the commandments of God, even down to this present time."  (Book of Mormon | Mosiah 1:4)

The people of Zarahemla did not have such a book of remembrance and thus their language and knowledge of God became corrupted, thus -

"...Mosiah caused that they should be taught in his language. And it came to pass that after they were taught in the language of Mosiah, Zarahemla gave a genealogy of his fathers, according to his memory; and they are written..." (Book of Mormon | Omni 1:18)
