Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

Isaiah 40

In modern revelation, the Lord said -

"...all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones;
19 And shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures;
20 And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint." (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 89:18 - 20)

Many that read these words may first consider them to be physical or temporal promises, but Isaiah provides us a little bit more incite asking -

"Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding." (Old Testament | Isaiah 40:28)

When we read the promise that -

"...shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures;
20 And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint." Doctrine and Covenants | Section 89:18 - 20)

...does that not sound like we are growing spiritually in "becoming" more like Him. Isaiah continued with the same promise -

"He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength...they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." (Old Testament | Isaiah 40:29 - 31)

We begin to understand that these blessings our both temporal and spiritual.
