Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

Hebrews 9

As Paul writes the Jew concerning the  law of Moses is fulfilled in Christ, he explains -

"...now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second."  (New Testament | Hebrews 8:6 - 7)

Adding -

"...he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers..."  (New Testament | Hebrews 8:8 - 9)

For

"..he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away."  (New Testament | Hebrews 8:13)

And comparing these old and new covenants, Paul reviews the purpose and symbolic nature of the "tabernacle" -

"...the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.
2 For there was a tabernacle made..."   (New Testament | Hebrews 9:1 - 2)

Paul then reviews all the symbolic practices of priesthood in this tabernacle, but -

"The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing..."  (New Testament | Hebrews 9:8)

It was with the atonement of Jesus Christ that entry into the Holy of Holies or Celestial kingdom was made possible as -

"...the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom."  (New Testament | Mark 15:38)

Having now pierced the veil -

"...he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance."  (New Testament | Hebrews 9:15)
