D&C 113
I previously blogged on the visit of Moses where -
"...Moses appeared before us, and committed unto us the keys of the gathering of Israel from the four parts of the earth..." (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 110:11)
Concerning our day, Isaiah pleaded years before -
"AWAKE, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.
2 Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion." (Old Testament | Isaiah 52:1 - 2)
The question was asked of the Prophet Joseph Smith -
"What are we to understand by Zion loosing herself from the bands of her neck...?" (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 113:9)
To which he answered -
"...The bands of her neck are the curses of God upon her, or the remnants of Israel in their scattered condition among the Gentiles." (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 113:10)
Thus, because of the unfaithfulness of Israel, they were curse with the curse of being scattered throughout the gentiles without the gospel. The curse then would be being taught the philosophies of men and not the truth of the gospel. With restored preisthood keys and authority, Israel is now being gathered from the gentiles to Zion or her stakes of Zion. This is the great missionary or reclamation effort prophecied by Isaiah.
