Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

D&C 63

In revelation, the Lord teaches us the correlation between faith, obedience, and signs in that -

"...faith cometh not by signs, but signs follow those that believe."  (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 63:9)

True faith and belief comes by hearkening to His words and keeping His commandments not the other way around.  His blessings and rewards (signs) come by His conditions and the demonstrations of faith in His conditions, not based on our conditions being that show me a sign first and I will believe for -

"...signs come by faith, not by the will of men, nor as they please, but by the will of God.
11 Yea, signs come by faith, unto mighty works, for without faith no man pleaseth God..."  (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 63:10 - 11)

It is in the exercise of faith in Jesus Christ that we please Him.  But -

"...I, the Lord, am not pleased with those among you who have sought after signs and wonders for faith, and not for the good of men unto my glory."  (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 63:12)

Of those that have conditions before keeping the commandments, the Lord said -

"...he that seeketh signs shall see signs, but not unto salvation."  (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 63:7)

But to those that follow His pattern and conditions -

 "...that endureth in faith and doeth my will, the same shall overcome, and shall receive an inheritance upon the earth when the day of transfiguration shall come;
21 When the earth shall be transfigured, even according to the pattern which was shown unto mine apostles upon the mount; of which account the fulness ye have not yet received.  (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 63:20 - 21)
