Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

D&C 58

Again, in follow up to previous blogs, the land of Zion was to be the starting point for -

"...Behold, the place which is now called Independence is the center place..."  (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 57:3)

But -

"...the time has not yet come, for many years, for them to receive their inheritance in this land, except they desire it through the prayer of faith, only as it shall be appointed unto them of the Lord."  (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 58:44)

An inheritance in this land would only come by the will and appointment of the Lord.  But first -

"...they shall push the people together from the ends of the earth."  (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 58:45)

That is , much like the prophecy given to Joseph where Moses referred to the former blessing -

"...let the blessing come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren.
17 His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh."  (Old Testament | Deuteronomy 33:16 - 17)

Obviously, before the land of Zion could be fully established, the preaching of the gospel and the gathering in stakes of Zion must take place being lead by descendants of Ephraim and Manasseh -

"For, verily, the sound must go forth from this place into all the world, and unto the uttermost parts of the earth—the gospel must be preached unto every creature, with signs following them that believe.
65 And behold the Son of Man cometh..."   (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 58:64 - 65)
