Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

2 Nephi 19

Speaking of Christ and his covenant to Israel, Isaiah writes -

"For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor." (Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 19:4)

Though many Israelites may have assumed this was a temporal statement, I sense Isaiah is thinking more of spiritual things for he suggests to Isreal that they are thing temporal and he is thinking spiritual saying -

"For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire." (Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 19:5)

For -

"...blessed are they who shall believe in your words, and come down into the depths of humility and be baptized, for they shall be visited with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and shall receive a remission of their sins." (Book of Mormon | 3 Nephi 12:2)

The yoke of Israel's burden was wickedness and sin. It is then Isaiah prophecies of the source of this relief -

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of government and peace there is no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will perform this." (Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 19:6 - 7)
