Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

Ether 12

Moroni taught this truth -

"For if there be no faith among the children of men God can do no miracle among them..." (Book of Mormon Ether 12:12)

Some may interpret that statement by Moroni that God is powerless without faith -

"...as though he had authority to command God." (Book of Mormon Alma 11:35)

But I think it is more like Amulek said -

"...for I cannot deny his word..." (Book of Mormon Alma 11:37)

Suggesting that God has set his word that He would do no miracles among His children if there be now faith. This is the word of God -

"Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God." (Book of Mormon Ether 12:4)

As one ponders these words, hope - that is not seen but true, or faith, provides an anchor to keep men's souls sure and steadfast, safe from harm of the advesary, as man always abounds in good works. Hope requires works. Faith requires works. And -

"...because of the faith of men he has shown himself unto the world, and glorified the name of the Father, and prepared a way that thereby others might be partakers of the heavenly gift, that they might hope for those things which they have not seen." (Book of Mormon Ether 12:8)

"...wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith." (Book of Mormon Ether 12:6)
