Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

3 Nephi 24

Alma taught his son -

"...the plan of happiness, which was as eternal ... as the life of the soul." (Book of Mormon Alma 42:16)

He also taught him that -

"...wickedness never was happiness." (Book of Mormon Alma 41:10)

As we look around us, it seems that many who are not living as they should, seem to be receiving great blessings in the form of ease and wealth. There are many that suggest -

"...It is vain to serve God, and what doth it profit that we have kept his ordinances and that we have walked mournfully before the Lord of Hosts?" (Book of Mormon 3 Nephi 24:14)

As the Savior delivers the former words of Malachi to the Nephites, he explains -

"...now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered..." (Book of Mormon 3 Nephi 24:15)

As they believe -

"...All is well in Zion; yea, Zion prospereth, all is well..." (Book of Mormon 2 Nephi 28:21)

But the Savior warns the proud that work wickedness -

"...I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger, and fear not me, saith the Lord of Hosts." (Book of Mormon 3 Nephi 24:5)

"FOR behold, the day cometh that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble; and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of Hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch." (Book of Mormon 3 Nephi 25:1)

For -

"...who may abide the day of his coming, and who shall stand when he appeareth? For he is like a refiner's fire, and like fuller's soap." (Book of Mormon 3 Nephi 24:2)

"...And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier..." (Book of Mormon 3 Nephi 24:3)

It will be only the righteous unto which the Savior promised -

"Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another, and the Lord hearkened and heard; and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name.
17 And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of Hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them as a man spareth his own son that serveth him." (Book of Mormon 3 Nephi 24:16 - 17)

Great are the words of Malachi.
