D&C 76
In vision, the Prophet Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon testified -
"...we saw also, and bear record, that an angel of God who was in authority in the presence of God, who rebelled against the Only Begotten Son whom the Father loved and who was in the bosom of the Father, was thrust down from the presence of God and the Son..." Doctrine and Covenants 76:25)
In my mind, "whom the Father loved", does not mean He doesn't love others. But even so, loving does not mean merciful. Elder Russell M. Nelson taught -
“While divine love can be called perfect, infinite, enduring, and universal, it cannot correctly be characterized as unconditional. The word does not appear in the scriptures. On the other hand, many verses affirm that the higher levels of love the Father and the Son feel for each of us—and certain divine blessings stemming from that love—are conditional.
“The resplendent bouquet of God’s love—including eternal life—includes blessings for which we must qualify, not entitlements to be expected unworthily.” (February 2003 Ensign)
