Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

3 Nephi 3

Two scriptures seemed to catch my attention this morning as I compare the scriptures to us and our day.  The first being -

"...all the Lamanites who had become converted unto the Lord did unite with their brethren, the Nephites, and were compelled, for the safety of their lives and their women and their children, to take up arms against those Gadianton robbers, yea, and also to maintain their rights, and the privileges of their church and of their worship, and their freedom and their liberty."  (Book of Mormon | 3 Nephi 2:12)

In my mind, as terrorists rob and plunder, it may be necessary for us to take up arms to defend our families, rights, freedom, liberty, and our privilege of worship.

Second, was the arrogant words of Giddianhi -

"...I write unto you, desiring that ye would yield up unto this my people, your cities, your lands, and your possessions, rather than that they should visit you with the sword and that destruction should come upon you.
7 Or in other words, yield yourselves up unto us, and unite with us and become acquainted with our secret works, and become our brethren that ye may be like unto us—not our slaves, but our brethren and partners of all our substance."  (Book of Mormon | 3 Nephi 3:6 - 7)

My thoughts were that the only way these robbers survived was in plundering and stealing from others.  Obviously, if everyone joined them, how would they survive...sounds much like socialism, it works great until you run out of other peoples money.
