James 5
It seems that both Paul and James wrote much the same counseling the saints to have faith, sufficient to endure to the end, in order to receive the promise. Obviously, such faith and hope requires patience. Thus James counseled -
"Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain." (New Testament | James 5:7)
Using that analogy, James continues -
"Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh." (New Testament | James 5:8)
Thus the doctrine of Christ includes enduring to the end which requires the development of patience. It is during period of temptations, afflictions, and suffering that we really begin to learn patience. In addition, James counseled -
"Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience." (New Testament | James 5:10)
There isn't much we can suffer or endure more than that of the Prophets of scripture. Use them for an example for -
"Behold, we count them happy which endure..." (New Testament | James 5:11)
James even called upon one example of the prophets -
"...Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy." (New Testament | James 5:11)
The Lord will keep His promises in we endure in faith and patience.
