Matthew 25
In two parables, just before his death, the Savior made it clear that -
"...that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do." (Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 25:23)
It is apparent that in the parable of the talents, the Savior made it clear that all things are not necessarily fair as a man -
"...called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability..." (New Testament | Matthew 25:14 - 15)
As these servants used these talents according to the desire and will of their master, they each received the same blessing no matter what their ability was as the Savior taught -
"Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord." (New Testament | Matthew 25:21)
But to one that did nothing with that which the master gave, not even trying to accumate interest, the master said -
"...Thou wicked and slothful servant..." (New Testament | Matthew 25:26)
"And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." (New Testament | Matthew 25:30)
We see this same logic in the parable of the sheep and goats where the sheep were on His right hand (salvation) and the goats on His left (damnation) where the Savior explained of the sheep -
"...Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." (New Testament | Matthew 25:34 - 40)
In both parables, those that reap salvation are clearly -
"Ye shall know them by their fruits..." (New Testament | Matthew 7:16)
