Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

Matthew 24

As I compared the 24th Chapter of Matthew with the Joseph Smith translation of the same, the Savior said something that was not included in Matthews record repeating -

"And again, because iniquity shall abound, the love of men shall wax cold; but he that shall not be overcome, the same shall be saved."  (Pearl of Great Price | JS-Matthew 1:30)

As I pondered our day, entertainment, media, and much of society seems to promote personal gratification in lieu of fidelity, love and commitment.  Thus, love seems to become colder and colder in personal relationships.  In its place...selfishness.

The reasoning herein is those that are true and faithful, first loving God more than self, and then second "loving" our fellowman more than personal gratification would be those that overcome the world and its temptation with the promise that they "shall" be saved.

Great promise.
