Matthew 21
As the Savior used parables to chastise the Jewish elite, I personally liked the parable of the two sons as the Savior taught -
"But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
29 He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.
30 And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.
31 Whether of them twain did the will of his father?..." (New Testament | Matthew 21:28 - 31)
To which the religious leaders obviously responded -
"...The first." (New Testament | Matthew 21:31)
The Savior then made the point -
"Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you." (New Testament | Matthew 21:31)
Why? Because they were willing to listen, repent, and keep the commandments.
I know many members of the Church that somewhat "murmur" when asked to do something, but even so, if accepted proceed to the best work. While there are others that accept overwhelming when asked to do something, but when it comes down to doing the work, they do not show up or do as little as possible. I will always pefer the first.
