Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

2 Nephi 7

As Jacob continues to teach the writings and prophecies of Isaiah, Isaiah records an interesting question of the Lord -

"...Have I put thee away, or have I cast thee off forever? For thus saith the Lord: Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement? To whom have I put thee away, or to which of my creditors have I sold you? Yea, to whom have I sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother [in my mind - nation] put away."
(Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 7:1)

The question really is "did I leave you or did you leave me?". There is no question that the Lord never leaves us. Isaiah then writes -

"For the Lord God will help me. And all they who shall condemn me, behold, all they shall wax old as a garment, and the moth shall eat them up." (Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 7:9)

I don't know if Isaiah herein is referring to himself or the Savior, but I don't think it matters. The Lord teaches that generally there isn't an immediate punishment for then no faith would be required. The Lord teaches the unrighteous will wax old like a garment but the day of judgement will come. And then the Lord again asks -

"Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness and hath no light?" (Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 7:10)

The answer is no one! If we follows his prophets we are promised -

"...if your eye be single to my glory, your whole bodies shall be filled with light, and there shall be no darkness in you..." (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 88:67)

But of those that do wickedness, they strive to represent that they have been enlightened, but this only really leads to darkness (absence of light) and to sorrow as Isaiah prophecied -

"Behold all ye that kindle fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks, walk in the light of your fire and in the sparks which ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand—ye shall lie down in sorrow."
(Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 7:11)

These are they that arrogantly say "I did it my way" and not the Lord's way.
