Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

2 Nephi 6

As Jacob refers back to the revelations of Isaiah, he quotes a popular prophecy of the latter days -

"...Thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people; and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.
7 And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers; they shall bow down to thee with their faces towards the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the Lord; for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me." (Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 6:6 - 7)

I am more than aware of the many modern interpretations of that prophecy when many see leaders of nations (kings and queens) assist in the gather of Israel, as well as Jacob explaination to his people that -

"...they that fight against Zion and the covenant people of the Lord shall lick up the dust of their feet; and the people of the Lord shall not be ashamed." (Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 6:13)

My thoughts this morning were a little bit different. The fact that those that fight against Zion will also "lick up the dust of their feet", I also sensed that the gentiles that carry the Jews sons and daughter may also do the same in righteous humility. As Isaiah said of the Jews which we also know of the children of Israel -

"...after they are driven to and fro...they shall be scattered..." (Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 6:11)

In these writings, I believe that Isaiah is writing of the Jews and the gentiles are everyone else which would also include the blood of the childern of Israel. We are taught and know the blessings of an inheritance in the kingdom of God includes being Kings and Queens, my thoughts would be that the righteous of members of the Church may be the kings and queens referred to in these verses. As righteous saints, are we not humbled and in awe of many of the rising generations? My thoughts this morning could be that we are the ones that Isaiah referred to as -

"...shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders." (Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 6:6)

Just a thought.
