Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

D&C 137

As the Prophet Joseph Smith saw in vision the celestial kingdom, he saw individuals there that somewhat surprised him including his brother. In answer to his thoughts, the Lord said -

"...I, the Lord, will judge all men according to their works, according to the desire of their hearts." (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 137:9)

In my mind, that verse suggests that there are many and great variances in the weaknesses and conditions of men. It is not black and white. The Lord is saying that individuals will be judged according to their works - according to the desires of their hearts. In other words, the capacity and God given weaknesses of each individual will be considered in the great judgement. We need to be careful then how we judge.
