Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

Articles of Faith

In the Articles of Faith, we read -

7 We believe in the gift of...revelation..." (Pearl of Great Price Articles of Faith 1:7)

and -

"We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things..." (Pearl of Great Price Articles of Faith 1:9)

President Spencer W. Kimball taught -

"Of all things, that for which we should be most grateful today is that the heavens are indeed open and that the restored church of Jesus Christ is founded upon the rock of revelation. Continuous revelation is indeed the very lifeblood of the gospel of the living Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ." (Spencer W. Kimball, Ensign, May 1977, p. 76.)

Though each saint is not entitled to receive revelation for the Church or others, revelation is a gift of the Spirit and saints are entitled to receive revelation for themselves. Elder Bruce R. McConkie wrote -

"Accordingly, those who are saints indeed, those who have been born again, those who are so living as to be in tune with the Spirit—they are they who receive revelation, personal revelation, revelation which is the mind and will of God to them as individuals. They know there are apostles and prophets directing the kingdom who receive revelation for the Church and the world. But they as individuals receive personal revelation in their own affairs." (Bruce R. McConkie, IE, December 1969, p. 85.)

The Prophet Joseph Smith said -

:". . . God hath not revealed anything to Joseph, but what He will make known unto the Twelve, and even the least Saint may know all things as fast as he is able to bear them."(TPJS, p. 149.)

We see this principle taught as Nephi said -

"...I had desired to know the things that my father had seen, and believing that the Lord was able to make them known unto me, as I sat pondering in mine heart I was caught away in the Spirit of the Lord..." (Book of Mormon 1 Nephi 11:1)

As the Prophet of God speaks, just as Nephi, the Spirit of the Lord will also confirmed to our heart the truthfulness of his words.
