Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

Deuteronomy 20 - 33

It is written several times in Deuteronomy, that the Lord commanded the children of Israel -

"...thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might..." (Old Testament Deuteronomy 6:5)

Moroni suggests this means -

"...having a determination to serve him to the end." (Book of Mormon Moroni 6:3)

Moses also suggests that this requires more than just serve him the end, for a the cursing of the children of Israel was -

"...Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things..." (Old Testament Deuteronomy 28:47)

As we love the Lord and -

"...embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day..." (Doctrine and Covenants Section 4:2)

And do with with -

"...with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart..." (Old Testament Deuteronomy 28:47)

And also to -

"Remember faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence..." (Doctrine and Covenants Section 4:6)

And with -

"...hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God..." (Doctrine and Covenants Section 4:5)

The Lord is mindful that at times we may stumble and fall, but promises that if we -

"...return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee ...thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul..." (Old Testament Deuteronomy 30:2)

He will -

"...the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live..." (Old Testament Deuteronomy 30:6)
