This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. Luke 1

I find it interesting that the angel told Zacharias -

"And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."  (Luke 1:17)

In my mind, the angel only said that John would assist in the turning of the hearts of the fathers to their children.  This suggests to me that in preparation for the Saviors coming, not only was John efforts in baptism and repentance but also the importance of family.
