Matthew 2
I noticed one thing about Matthew's approach was to justify his testimony to the Jews with scriptural or prophetic prophecies. One with -
"Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." (Matthew 1:22–23)
In reference to Isaiah 7:14, and
"And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judæa: for thus it is written by the prophet,
6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel." (Matthew 2:5–6)
in reference to Micah 5:2.
Obviously, the Jews were familiar with these prophecies.
