D&C 6
To Oliver Cowdery, the Lord said -
"...I say unto you, keep my commandments, and seek to bring forth and establish the cause of Zion..." (Doctrine and Covenants Section 6:6)
That cause is given to all in the latter days. The cause of Zion is purity and love and receiving the ordinances of the temple for -
"...the Lord called his people ZION, because they were of one heart and one mind, and dwelt in righteousness; and there was no poor among them." (Pearl of Great Price Moses 7:18)
It pursuit of the cause of Zion, the Lord counseled -
"Seek not for riches but for wisdom, and behold, the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto you, and then shall you be made rich. Behold, he that hath eternal life is rich." (Doctrine and Covenants Section 6:7)
Paul spoke a great deal on the mysteries of God. Joseph Fielding Smith wrote -
“The Lord has promised to reveal his mysteries to those who serve him in faithfulness. . . . There are no mysteries pertaining to the Gospel, only as we, in our weakness, fail to comprehend Gospel truth. . . . The ‘simple’ principles of the Gospel, such as baptism, the atonement, are mysteries to those who do not have the guidance of the Spirit of the Lord.” (Church History and Modern Revelation, 1:43.)
Therefore -
"Say nothing but repentance unto this generation; keep my commandments, and assist to bring forth my work, according to my commandments, and you shall be blessed." (Doctrine and Covenants Section 6:9)
