Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

D&C 35

I did this blog when I was out of town a week or so ago and decided to post it.

I wanted to note a few more admonishments for those who serve as “counselors” in the Church. In regards to the Prophet, the Lord said to Sidney Rigdon –

“Wherefore, watch over him that his faith fail not, and it shall be given by the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, that knoweth all things.” (Doctrine and Covenants Section 35:19)

The that serve as counselors should remember the Lords words to Oliver Cowdery -

“…no one shall be appointed to receive commandments and revelations in this church excepting my servant Joseph Smith, Jun., for he receiveth them even as Moses.
3 And thou shalt be obedient unto the things which I shall give unto him, even as Aaron, to declare faithfully the commandments and the revelations, with power and authority unto the church.
4 And if thou art led at any time by the Comforter to speak or teach, or at all times by the way of commandment unto the church, thou mayest do it.
5 But thou shalt not write by way of commandment, but by wisdom;
6 And thou shalt not command him who is at thy head, and at the head of the church...” (Doctrine and Covenants Section 28:2 - 6)

Including –

:…none have I appointed to be his counselor over him in the church, concerning church matters,”( Doctrine and Covenants Section 30:7)

Counselors are to –

“…be diligent; stand by my servant Joseph, faithfully, in whatsoever difficult circumstances he may be for the word's sake.
19 Admonish him in his faults, and also receive admonition of him. Be patient; be sober; be temperate; have patience, faith, hope and charity.” (Doctrine and Covenants Section 6:18 - 19)
