Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

D&C 137

We learn a great deal concerning the final judgment in this revelation received by the Prophet Joseph Smith where the Lord explains -

"...I, the Lord, will judge all men according to their works, according to the desire of their hearts."  (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 137:9)

In my mind then, there are two requirements that must be satisfied to receive all the blessings of the Father.

First, we will be judged according to our works.  This would suggest to me, obedience in keeping the commandments which include receiving all saving ordinances and entering into all essential covenants.  Keeping the commandments or works would include consecrating and sacrificing personal time, talents, and means associated with the commandments.

Second, there is another component.  We must receive a change of heart or in other words, the desires of our hearts must turn to godliness.

All this seems simple but necessary for to receive all His gifts and blessings.
