Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

D&C 87

The focus of this section for most saints is in the Lord's prophecy of the beginning of the Civil War wherein the Lord says -

"...concerning the wars that will shortly come to pass, beginning at the rebellion of South Carolina, which will eventually terminate in the death and misery of many souls;
2 And the time will come that war will be poured out upon all nations, beginning at this place.
3 For behold, the Southern States shall be divided against the Northern States..." (Doctrine and Covenants Section 87:1 - 3)

What I find even more interesting is the continued prophecy -

"...and the Southern States will call on other nations, even the nation of Great Britain, as it is called, and they shall also call upon other nations, in order to defend themselves against other nations; and then war shall be poured out upon all nations." (Doctrine and Covenants Section 87:3)

As in pondered these words, it says the Southern States will call on other nations. Then as if referring to these other nations, the Lord states that "they"or these "other nations" shall call upon other nations, and at that time, war will be be poured out upon all nations. I sense the Lord is saying that nation will call upon nation, or allies with allies, as war pours out upon the earth. I think this is even more significant as we contemplate wars since the Civil War. Hasn't war grown where groups of nations combine in opposition to other groups of nations?

Will all of this that has gone on and will continue to go until the second coming of the Savior, we are simply instructed -

"Wherefore, stand ye in holy places, and be not moved, until the day of the Lord come..." (Doctrine and Covenants Section 87:8)

These holy places are Zion, the temples, stakes, wards, and even the home where the Spirit of the Lord resides.
