Mark 7

 As the apostles were challenged for not washing their hand before eating, the Savior responded to the scribes and Pharisees - 

"...Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men..."  (Mark 7:6–8)

The scribes were notorious in defining each mosaic commandment in detail like scriptural judges of what you can and can't do.  Some have done this in The Church.  In my mind, the Savior is teaching that we obey commandments as guided by the Spirit.
