Alma 57

While many Nephite soldiers were slain, where the Ammonite stripling warriors were spared, Helaman comments -

"...we do justly ascribe it to the miraculous power of God, because of their exceeding faith in that which they had been taught to believe—that there was a just God, and whosoever did not doubt, that they should be preserved by his marvelous power."  (Book of Mormon | Alma 57:26)

I wanted to note that there is a real power outside of science has determined.  Helaman teaches that this miraculous power is of God and comes by faith.
