Scripture Blog

This weblog is my personal online scripture journal. I try to read the scriptures each morning as I exercise on my cross-trainer. It has a great impact on my life and my testimony of the Savior and his restored church. The journal is really for my own benefit but I have set it up as a web log in hopes to benefit anyone else that may be interested. "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost..." 1 Nephi 10:19

Revelation 19

What appears to me of the central and eternal theme of Revelation regarding the last days is really about two opposites, darkness and light, wickedness and righteousness with light and righteousness prevailing. We see this again as John said -

"Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready." (New Testament | Revelation 19:7)

The woman clothed in the Sun (or light) is the Church or the righteous saints of the Church(reference the parable of the ten virgins). This becomes even more apparent as John explains -

"And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints." (New Testament | Revelation 19:8)

We see such fine line or "white robes" of righteousness of worthy saints in sacred temples. The condition of righteousness is even more evident as we read at the end of the seven seals, John said -

"...I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works." (New Testament | Revelation 20:12 - 13)

And those who did not satisfy the conditions or righteousness or in other words -

"...whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." (New Testament | Revelation 20:15)

Notice that works or in other words, keeping His commandments and making and keeping sacred covenants are the works of righteousness.
