Revelations 1
While John -
"...was in the isle that is called Patmos..." (New Testament Revelation 1:9)
He records -
"I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last..." (New Testament Revelation 1:10 - 11)
As he turned to see the voice that spake to him -
"...I saw seven golden candlesticks;
13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters." (New Testament Revelation 1:12 - 15)
And John then noticed -
"...he had in his right hand seven stars..." (New Testament Revelation 1:16)
The Lord then tells John -
"The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand...are the angels of the seven churches..." (New Testament Revelation 1:20)
In modern revelation, the Prophet Joseph translated the angels were -
"JST Rev. 1:20 ... servants of the seven churches ..." (New Testament:Revelation 1:20)
The Lord goes on to instruct John -
"...What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea." (New Testament Revelation 1:11)
Particularly the stars or priesthood leaders or servants to the branches. I was impressed as it was symbolically revealed that leaders are in the right hand of God. What a wonderful thought. We read of several instances where individuals -
"were instruments in the hands of God..." (Book of Mormon Mosiah 27:36)
The Lord has promised -
"Be thou humble; and the Lord thy God shall lead thee by the hand..." (Doctrine and Covenants Section 112:10)
What greater comfort can this provide as one is called to lead a group of saints.
